FAQs

Summer Camp FAQs

What is the minimum age to join a camp?
We recommend age 10 for kids to join our camp. We do make exceptions and take younger kids but they need to already be comfortable in the water and able to manage a small surfboard on their own if needs be. This is really a decision for parents as we can’t know for sure until we take the kids into the water.

Do I need to book the camps in advance?
Yes, camps are probably the only lesson we offer that needs to be booked in advance as they do book out. €40 deposit on booking to secure your place on the camp.

When is the remainder of the payment made?
After the deposit has been paid the remainder is due on the first morning the camps start.

What are the dates and times your camps run?
The camps run every week during June, July and August, mon – fri, 9.30am – 11:30am. 5 consecutive days.

What time should we arrive?
Please arrive at 9:15 am at the latest. The camp will start when all the kids are in their wetsuits which can take some time. We ask parents to remain and help with dressing them.

Do kids need to be able to swim?
No, you don’t need to be able to swim. Our classes are held in waist deep water and all our instructors are qualified lifeguards. The camps are run with a strong safety-first emphasis. If the child is nervous, we ask the parents or gaurdians to remain on the beach during the lesson for at least the first day just so they can get comfortable with waves.

What do kids need to bring?
Towel, swimming togs and a bottle of water for after. If it’s warm, then sunscreen but please put it on a little in advance so it is not running into their eyes the minute they hit the water.

Lessons FAQs

How long are lessons?
Lessons are 2 hours long. If the lesson was meant to start at 1pm it will finish at 3pm. The minimum amount of time in the water will be 90 minutes. Please arrive to the lesson at least 15 minutes prior to starting, this gives everyone time to get wetsuits on and organise themselves. It also means no one will be held up and more time in the water.

Are lessons times set?
July and August are pretty set times. Weekdays 12pm and 2pm. Weekends 9.30am, 12pm and 2pm. These times might vary slightly depending on conditions and tides, but we try to keep them as close to these times as possible.
